Tracklisting:

* a) Om Unit- Timelines
Newcomer to Headz but no newcomer to the craft Om Unit has in one way found his way back home as a student of early Metalheadz and then making his name within other genres. Timelines is a B-boy anthem breaks, subs and bongos. Om Unit’s contributions to Headz have been very stand-out, just check the way Timelines moves from B-boy breaks anthem to into dub soundsystem shaker- which indeed was a timeline for our very genre.
* b) Dub Phizix and Skeptical- Deeper Love
One of the more musical outing from 170s new shining lights was always destined to be on Headz, the intro is as forlorn as it beautiful, Skeptical’s drums are bring light to the heartbreak with Dub Phizix bass driving things forward, this one will be remembered for some time to come.
* c) Calibre- Archive
It’s hard to believe this is the debut track by Calibre on Metalheadz, and it’s already a firm dancefloor favourite thanks to its kipping drums and variants in bass. The drums have the unmistakeable Calibre air to them, the air that grabs you by the hips and demands you move and paired with the aforementioned screwface bass, it really is a foregone conclusion that you going to move.
* d) Scar- When
The newly formed pairing of Script and Survival come with When- A grotty work out in contorted bass and subs, gut wrenching to say the least with skittering hats and percussion moving things along with an unmatched pace.
* e) Ivy Lab & Hydro – Make it Clear (Feat. Frank Carter III & Lucy Annika)
If you weren’t already aware Ivy Lab are a very talented trio consisting of Sabre, Stray and Halogenix and this time they bought some friends along for the ride. Make it clear is a slice of soul the really resonates with the listener, the duet of Mr Carter and Miss Annika trades phrases all the while underpinned by gentle pianos, a lovely effort indeed.
* f) Ulterior Motive (Ft Will Manning) – Gods Neighbours
The most emotive Ulterior Motive track up this point, the duo continue to bring their unique palette of colour to Headz. The intro features the work of Will Manning, a friend of the pair who plays violin and sets the tone for something very dramatic whilst painting brushstrokes against the blank canvas. Listen from start to finish to really understand the battle between good and evil encapsulated within the song.
* g) Lenzman & FD- Joanie’s Theme
Driving dancefloor soul from Lenzman and FD, percussive elements really make these drums stand out, tight mid-range is controlled by the pair and really makes this a peak time dancefloor track given personality by the vocal used.
* h) Digital & Spirit- Creeper
After a brief hiatus one of the most feared twosomes in drum n bass are back again and as menacing as usual. Creeper drives with unmistakeable force across its 5 or so minutes. The effervescent trademarks are all still present and correct and it’s like they never left. Phantom Audio forever.
